The Inventor of Instant Noodle

I’m blessed to have visited the Nissin Instant Ramen Museum in Osaka

Ando Momofuku is the founder of Nissin, and known as the Inventor of Instant Noodle.
He is just like us, ordinary person who encountered a lot of challenges and trials in life, the following are some of his challenges based on Wikipedia
1. his parents died when he was at an early age. He was raised by his grandparents in Tainan, Taiwan
2. he was convicted of tax evasion in 1948 and served two years in jail. In his biography, Ando said he had provided scholarships for students, which at the time was a form of tax evasion.
3. he lost his company due to a chain reaction bankruptcy

but in spite of challenges, he founded Nissin Corporation. And on August 25, 1958, at the age of 48, and after months of trial and error experimentation, Ando marketed the first package of precooked instant noodles.

I was surprised that Nissin Instant Noodles even went to space! Amazing

you may be thinking, isn’t instant noodle not good for our health? hehe… Ando passed away at the age of 97 and he claimed that the secret of his long life was playing golf and eating Chicken Ramen almost every day. He was said to have eaten instant ramen until the day before he died

I salute Ando, for his perseverance and contribution to the world

Be Willing to Be a Little Outrageous to Get What You Want! by Lisa Jimenez

Jeff:
These are what courage did for me:
1. Climb Mt. Kinabalu – Highest south east asia mountain
2. Finished 42KM in SG Marathon
3. Started my own company BizWiz Learning Resources, Inc.
and I’m glad for these wonderful experiences, I’m loving my Life 😉
Below is a great article about Courage by Lisa Jimenez

Some psychologists say, “If a child has not had a serious fall within the first year of life, they are being too closely guarded.” Now you might not agree with that statement in regards to children, but that statement needs to be said for our adult lives. Have you had a serious fall in the past year? If not, is it because you’re being too closely guarded? Are you too cautious? Too safe? Too practical? Too boring?

Your lack of courage is costing you – a lot! It is your lack of courage that keeps you from greater profits, more intimate relationships, and a life you love!

The good news is one act of courage – in any area of your life – has a powerful affect on all the other areas of your life.

Your career, your marriage, your friendships need just one outrageous act to bounce you out of a rut and into a more abundant, courageous life!

During one of my recent speeches, after sharing with my audience about the time I moved to Hawaii by myself at the age of 18, I asked them to yell out the most outrageous thing they’ve ever done in life. After a short pause a man yelled, “I once bought a sailboat, and I didn’t know a thing about sailing!” Another shouted, “I walked away from a six-figure income to start my own business!” A lady called out, “I backpacked in Europe for a summer!” another shouted, “I met a man in a bar and married him – and we’re still happily married today!”

The synergy in that room was magical! As we relived our most outrageous acts of courage, we began to paint a path to risk again.

Courage is like a muscle. It’s weak until it’s worked out. But it doesn’t take long to build this courage muscle into a strong, fit, powerful force!

What about you?

What are your most outrageous acts of courage? Think about them. Relive them. And let these memories from the courageous side of you help empower the possibilities of today.

One courageous act leads to another. It creates a courageous mentality.

What is the one thing you are willing to do right now that’s a little outrageous to get your courageous muscles back into shape?

Do it! And watch opportunity begin to open up in all areas of your life. There’s something about being willing to go all out that reminds us of just how big and abundant life can be. This one act of courage is your first step that will lead you to a courageous mentality and life of abundance!

Make it a great and prosperous day.

Sounds Impossible

Jeff: Nothing is impossible

A complaint was received by the Pontiac Division of General Motors:

This is the second time I have written to you, and I don’t blame you for not answering me, because I sounded crazy, but it is a fact that we have a tradition in our family of ice cream for dessert after dinner each night.

But the kind of ice cream varies so, every night, after we’ve eaten, the whole family votes on which kind of ice cream we should have and I drive down to the store to get it. It’s also a fact that I recently purchased a new Pontiac and since then my trips to the store have created a problem. You see, every time I buy vanilla ice cream, when I start back from the store, my car won’t start. If I get any other kind of ice cream, the car starts just fine. I want you to know I’m serious about this question, no matter how silly it sounds: “What is there about a Pontiac that makes it not start when I get vanilla ice cream, and easy to start whenever I get any other kind?”

The Pontiac President was understandably skeptical about the letter, but sent an engineer to check it out anyway. The latter was surprised to be greeted by a successful, obviously well educated man in a fine neighborhood. He had arranged to meet the man just after dinner time, so the two hopped into the car and drove to the ice cream store. It was vanilla ice cream that night and, sure enough, after they came back to the car, it wouldn’t start. The engineer returned for three more nights. The first night, they got chocolate. The car started. The second night, he got strawberry. The car started. The third night he ordered vanilla. The car failed to start. Now the engineer, being a logical man, refused to believe that this man’s car was allergic to vanilla ice cream. He arranged, therefore, to continue his visits for as long as it took to solve the problem. And toward this end, he began to take notes: he jotted down all sorts of data: time of day, type of gas used, time to drive back and forth etc. In a short time, he had a clue: the man took less time to buy vanilla than any other flavor. Why? The answer was in the layout of the store. Vanilla, being the most popular flavor, was in a separate case at the front of the store for quick pickup. All the other flavors were kept in the back of the store at a different counter where it took considerably longer to check out the flavor.

Now, the question for the engineer was why the car wouldn’t start when it took less time. Once time became the problem – not the vanilla ice cream, the engineer quickly came up with the answer: “Vapor lock”. It was happening every night; but the extra time taken to get the other flavors allowed the engine to cool down sufficiently to start. When the man got vanilla, the engine was still too hot for the Vapor lock to dissipate.

Remember: Even crazy-looking problems are sometimes real and all problems will seem to be simple when we find the solution with cool thinking. Don’t just say it’s “IMPOSSIBLE” without putting a sincere effort… Observe the word “IMPOSSIBLE” carefully… You can see “I’M POSSIBLE”… What really matters is your attitude and your perception.

High Cholesterol and High Metabolism

I have high cholesterol but also high metabolism and it’s hard for me to gain weight. If I’m gonna go for a vegie & fish diet to solve my cholesterol problem, I will probably look like a stickman, and that will affect my self-esteem, which is also not good. The doctor said, “take medication (statins)”, but the problem is it has a side effect to the liver. And the doctor said “you choose, Liver or Heart”. I told the doctor both are equally important to me. I didn’t listen to the doctor’s advise and fortunately was able to lower down my cholesterol.

I realized the solution to bringing the High Cholesterol down is DISCIPLINE. Without it, it’s nearly impossible to stay healthy.

DISCIPLINE on What?
1. Have a healthy diet
2. Have simple exercise
3. Have at least 8hrs sleep and sleep early
4. Pray for healing

DISCIPLINE, it’s easy to say but not easy to do, I’m still learning.

I just want to share my diet that I’ve created lately, which is simple and achievable (If you are not picky about food):

Vegetable: Okra (It will not increase your uric acid, and you just need to steam/ blanch it)
Fruit: Banana (easy to eat, no need to wash)
Drink: Squeeze lemon juice to your water
Breakfast: Oatmeal
Main course: Any fish (grill/ steam), or chicken breast (grill/ steam)

If you are like me, who wants to gain weight and build muscles, you’ll be needing a lot of protein.
Protein: 2 or more egg whites before workout and another 2 egg whites after workout (Egg whites are a good source of protein)

I saw this video “Exposing the Cholesterol Myth” while researching about how to lower Cholesterol, it’s worth watching

If you have High Cholesterol, don’t worry, you don’t really need to take medication (my opinion only), you just need DISCIPLINE

I Have a Dream!

Jeff: Got this from a friend “I Have a DREAM!” do you have a DREAM?

Martin Luther King stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C and said four words that rocked the world. “I have a dream”. These words are among the most powerful ever spoken. They touched people in their lives and moved them to action. They changed laws and shook government. They knocked down doors of segregation and severed chains of prejudice. “I have a dream.”

What about you? What is one dream that you have? One dream you’ve been putting off or procrastinating. John F. Kennedy said, I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal before this decade is out of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth. “Specific? Yes. Short? Yes, Visual? Yes, Effective? It moved a nation to action! It put Neil Armstrong on the Moon!

The next step to living your dream is to figure out why you want it. A lot of people have goals, but they have never taken the time to figure out why they want them. Then they sit around wondering “why” they don’t have the motivation to make it happen. Victor Frankl said if you have a big enough why, you can deal with anyhow.” If you knew that your life depended on your increasing sales by 5% next month, would you find a way to make it happen? What if the lives of your entire family depended upon it? What if I promised you sales bonus of $1 million for a 5% increase in performance? At some point, your brain kicks in and says, “Yeah baby!” and you start to take action. Get it? It’s all in the reasons, the motivations for doing it. Get enough reasons and the behavior will take care of itself.
Now the great thing is, you are free to choose the reasons you will pursue your dream. You can choose as many as you want. You can make them as emotionally compelling as you want. You can think about the pleasure of achievement, and you can consider the pain of remaining stuck where you are.

Do whatever it takes, until your brain kicks in and says, “Yea baby,” until you know that you are absolutely committed to making it happen. Go.
